Mundine- Man or Myth?

By The Supplement Den - Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Mundine is attempting to continue his run of fighting sub-par opponents by turning down the mandatory title fight he has with the American Austin Trout in USA, despite saying time and time again that he wants the opportunity to fight for a title, yet he has turned down EVERY single title fight he has been challenged to by a legitimate American contender. He has also recently been featured in the media after challenging Danny Green to a rematch after already beating the over hyped Green many years ago. Danny Green is coming off two huge losses in which he was beaten badly by one aged fighter coming out of retirement and the other not even 6 months out of rehab after attempting suicide. Mundine himself has been consistently struggling with the low ranked opponents he has been fighting over the years since he began his career. I guess at least this time he won’t be paying an Argentinean nobody to take a fall but at least offering the opportunity to an Aussie. Mundine will go down in history as the champion who never was unless he steps up soon and boards a plane to America. . He is yet to win a legitimate title belt, although he uses every opportunity to call himself a world champ. The truth is Mundine has only ever won the interim belts. Basically a title that doesn’t really exist. Interim belts are invented for when a legitimate world champ is injured or can’t compete for example. They usually sit on a shelf gathering dust, unless a mockery of boxing like Mundine comes along and decides he is going to hood wink the public by wearing one around his waist and calling himself champion. Read More

By The Supplement Den - Thursday, February 16, 2012

Almost everyone that trains knows that a healthy testosterone level is not only vital for improved mood, well-being and confidence but also for a lean and ripped physique with plenty of quality muscle. However, not many people know that it’s also as important to keep estrogen levels low. You see, higher than average estrogen levels are usually responsible for that extra fat or water you are holding and what is holding you back from showing off that hard earned muscle definition.  Read More

Night-time Nutrition: Recover while you sleep!

Most people don’t realise that getting enough sleep can be one of the most important factors they can do for themselves. These days people are too busy with work and  training that they try and fit a lot of things into one day and forget the importance of getting enough sleep hours. Lack of sleep is related to many diseases such as obesity, heart disease, diabetes and depression. Sleep is essential for recharging your body and maintaining your overall health. Tiredness also disrupts the immune system, which raises your risk of getting sick.  Read More

Floyd Mayweather v Miguel Cotto- Superfight of the Century

By The Supplement Den - Tuesday, February 07, 2012

The Floyd Mayweather Jr v Manny Pacquaio fight heated up once again and looked like it was actually going to happen before once again falling apart at the last minute due to varying circumstances, with both fighters and there camps blaming it on the other. Whilst this was going on one fighter went about his business silently knowing that if the mega fight collapsed once more he would be the fighter who reaped the benefits being number one on both Manny Pacquaio and Floyd Mayweather Jr hit list.

By The Supplement Den - Friday, February 03, 2012

A lot of people get confused as to how to get the perfect abs! Ab definition will come with the years of training and eating CLEAN! I get a lot of girls asking me on daily basis how do my abs look like they do and which exercises I do to get a six pack or long V line...or both! It takes much more than doing exercise to get them right and the way you want to! It takes strict dieting, training and consistency.  I have a strong will power and I am ready to do and eat whatever it takes to get my dream abs! It’s one area of my body I love working on hard with ever changing ab workouts and strict diet rules. I don’t let anything get in the way until they are just the way I want them to be. Once you are focused, you are able to go hard and not look back! For me, there is nothing better than waking up to hard deep abs ;) Read More

Benefits of Including Power lifting into your Training

Benefits of Including Power lifting into your Training.

Power lifting is becoming more and more common. It is not only being performed by ‘Power Lifters’ but also the average person is including the program into their routine. Sometimes power lifting is confused with Olympic weightlifting which is only the clean, jerk and the snatch. Powerlifting is performed around three exercises- Bench press, Squats and Dead Lifts. These three compound exercises will build a thicker, denser and stronger physique. Powerlifting also strengthens muscles in your legs, back and upper body. When you follow a powerlifting routine nearly every skeletal muscle is being strengthened. Read More

The Best Cardio for Fat Bruning

By The Supplement Den - Wednesday, February 01, 2012

Many people ask me about the best way to get the optimum results from their cardio.  The most effective that I have found is low intensity cardio, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.  This must be low intensity, because if it is not you run the risk of burning valuable muscle tissue.  I take a thermogenic fat burner, such as Body Effects, Oxy Elite or Thermojet along with Acetyl L-Carnitine, L-Glutamine and a strong black coffee.  Then I walk at a steady pace, keeping my heart rate around the 120bpm which is the optimal fat burning range for my age, for between 45min to 1 hour.  Due to certain circumstances for my last competition I was having to do my cardio in the evening after dinner, before bed.  This also worked well, but my preference is to give my metabolism a good kick start to the day by doing my walk first thing in the morning. The theory behind this working so well is due to the body using up the stored glycogen (energy supply) over night, so by doing cardio at this time with no glycogen stores, the body is going to call on its stored fat to utilize as an energy source.
