Many people ask me about the best way to get the optimum results from
their cardio. The most effective that I have found is low intensity
cardio, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. This must be
low intensity, because if it is not you run the risk of burning valuable
muscle tissue. I take a thermogenic fat burner, such as Body Effects, Oxy Elite or Thermojet along with Acetyl L-Carnitine, L-Glutamine and a strong black coffee. Then I walk at a steady pace,
keeping my heart rate around the 120bpm which is the optimal fat burning range for my age, for between 45min to 1 hour. Due to certain circumstances for my last competition I was having to do my cardio in the evening after dinner, before bed. This also worked well, but my preference is to give my metabolism a good kick start to the day by doing my walk first thing in the morning. The theory behind this working so well is due to the body using up the stored glycogen (energy supply) over night, so by doing cardio at this time with no glycogen stores, the body is going to call on its stored fat to utilize as an energy source.
