1- Stay Active: This may sound like an obvious one but it’s very easy to decrease your activity in winter and sleep in for the extra hour for the morning trainers, or get home earlier for those that train in the afternoon. But don’t let yourself fall into this nasty habit, instead get out there and train even harder as this is a great way to heat yourself up, it won’t take long in the gym until you are feeling warm and you will realise it was the best decision you ever made.
2- Eat Healthy: Another common mistake is to eat worse in Winter because you can hide under clothing, this will work in the short term but it will come back to hurt you when the sun comes back out and you are forced to remove this excess clothing and unveil the extra weight you have gained. So, stay smart and eat healthy!
3- Keep motivated: In winter people can slow down and lose motivation and use the season as an excuse to “relax” and slacken off in the gym. The truth is, we should be working just as hard if not harder to ensure we remain in great shape and to increase your health and longevity and keep those nasty winter cold and flu’s from setting in.
So, no more excuses in winter not to train. Get out there and keep working on that physique you have been working so hard on throughout the first half of the year, trust me you will be extremely happy with this decision when the sunny season rolls back around.
