Yes, Casein forms a gel in the stomach and is hard for the body to digest. It slowly drip feeds your muscles protein while you sleep and is very anti-catabolic. This means that muscle you're working hard to gain, you will keep. Most serious trainers will be taking some source of bedtime protein to promote anabolism (growth).
-
Most of the sustained release powders will have a mixture of proteins in them, for example; WPI, WPC, CASEIN etc. They are generally still low in carbs and fats and are a versatile protein for muscle gains, toning and weight loss on a calorie controlled diet.
-
No, there are no adverse effects reported. However, weight loss proteins do contain ingredients to assist with fat loss. Some ingredients are Caffeine, L-Carnitine, Coleus Forskohli, Hydroxy Citric Acid and more. If you have any doubts about taking a weight loss protein, consult your GP before use.
-
No. There are no specific side effects that we are aware of related to taking a Mass Gaining protein. However, we always suggest consulting your GP before starting any new exercise or nutrition regime.
-
Yes. It is a great way to control the amount of carbohydrates you’re getting out of your shakes. You can add the carbs as required and in your desired ratio. When you don’t need carbs in your shake, you don’t add them in.
-
Yes. We have a few options in the non stimulant range of pre workouts. Syntec’s Nitrox-Syn, Syntec’s Synabol and Neogenix's BodyForge.

It is not reccommended. Most weight loss proteins are only 110 to 130 calories per shake. If you were to supplement these shakes for meals, they would not cover your nutritional requirements and you would find it having a negative effect on your weight loss instead of a positive one. I suggest following a good nutritional diet full of plenty of fruits, vegetables and lean meats. Use the protein shakes as a supplement in between your meals.
-
Yes. Mass gainers aren't only used for gaining muscle but also as a high energy source for athletes and serious trainers or sports people. Women definitely fall into this category depending on their goals. A mass gaining protein might be just what they need.
-
Yes. It will make your shake thicker and almost taste like you have added a lot of sugar into your shake. Some carb blends are predominantly complex carbs (low GI) and some have a higher simple carb (high GI) blend. It really depends on your purpose of using the carbs to which would best suit your purpose.
-
Hi Ricky,
That sounds like a great stack for putting on size! I would recommend using Anabolic Switch from MRI as your creatine blend as it is high in creatine and also contains quality carbs and high levels of amino acids. It can be used pre or post training.
-
Hi,
The Horleys Sculpt and the Syn tec Pro-Petite are both great options. They are both exceptional when used as a meal replacement by women and both contain a broad spectrum of vitamins and nutrients essential for fat loss. The best idea would be to use one and then try the other one afterwards and see what worked best for you and also which one was more appealing flavour wise. Everyone is different but both of these protein powders are popular with women and would be excellent for your wife.

Hi Rob,
Your trainer is correct, BCAA supplementation is important for any athlete that wants to build muscle. They are even more important in a high volume trainer such as anyone training in boxing, MMA, cycling etc as the branched chain amino acids will keep you in an anabolic state whilst also reducing the catabolic effects of training. This is of course extremely beneficial for a fighter in boxing or MMA. You could use either of those BCAA products. The Scivation Xtend is excellent if you are looking for more size and increased muscle pump as it also includes Citrulline in its formula. The Chained Out by ALR is exceptional for those requiring more of a lean hard physique or trying to drop unwanted fat while maintaining muscle as it is bonded to a malate and this ensures the BCAA's remain intact and do not convert into sugar/glycogen. Chained Out also contains anti catabolic and endurance boosting herbs such as Rhodeola Rosea and Cordyceps.
-
Hi Jake,
Thanks for your email. The Anabolic Switch from MRI is an excellent choice for a creatine product as it contains a high level of creatine hybrids and also has amino acids included in the formula to ensure maximum muscle growth and strength gains. It is best used either 40 mins before training or even during your sessions.
-
There is actually a brand new product we have recently got in to the store fresh
from the U.S. and it not only gives you a massive boost of energy and
strength but breaks down fats and gets you in the prefect zone for
increased fat burning potential and muscle building. Its called
Thermojet from Neogenix and is highly recommended for those hoping to
get shredded and build muscle.
-
Citrulline Malate is a great amino acid that works incredibly well as a strength booster whilst enhancing recovery dramatically. It is a strong vasodilator and transports nutrients and amino acids. Citrulline gives you a boost in ATP and muscle strength too so when compared with products such as creatine monohydrate it works even better!
-
Hi Dylan,
Scivation Xtend is an excellent amino acid supplement and works by keeping the level of branched chain amino acids high in your bloodstream to help assist the body to maintain as much muscle tissue as possible during high volume training such as boxing. It also decreases the catabolic effects of your intense training regime. You will therefore maintain hard muscle, burn fat more effectively and have higher energy levels.
-
Hi Jason,
The Max's Nite Time protein is a great choice as it contains sustained release protein and some excellent sleep herbs to help boost deep sleep. This will increase your muscle recovery. It also tastes delicious!
-
Hi Robyn,
The ALR Poison is a great product and works really well in conjunction with a healthy diet and good exercise plan. The poison is also very convenient being that its only a one tablet a day dose. This works in well with most peoples busy lifestyles!
-
Creatine monohydrate is an extremely popular supplement that serves as an energy reserve in muscle cells. Muscular contraction is powered by the breakdown of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) to ADP (adenosine diphosphate). When all the ATP is broken down, creatine phosphate in the muscle donates a phosphate group to ADP, and further energy reactions can occur. Creatine monohydrate is a precursor to creatine phosphate. By supplementing with CM, CP levels in muscle apparently are maximized, and more muscular work can occur, since there are greater energy reserves to use.
Creatine also helps with resistance training by bloating the muscle with creatine rich fluid. This allows for greater leverage and requires the muscle to move less and lift more weight. While this may seem kind of trivial, some researchers today think that one of the stimulating factors of PCT use is water retention. PCT's may actually work in part because of cellular fluid retention in the muscles. The swelling action and the related stretching of the cells may in and of itself cause a reaction which stimulates the muscle cells to grow. So in some respects creatine might be as good as PCT's.

Yes. Post workout recovery is all about spiking insulin levels through carbohydrate intake and consuming a fast absorbing protein supplement. By spiking your insulin levels your body’s ability to replenish glycogen levels and increase protein synthesis is increased.
-

The general recommendation for creatine is 1g per 10kg of bodyweight per day. As long as you getting that intake per day whilst supplementing on creatine it really shouldn’t matter. However, it is advised that when taking creatine you should take it when your experiencing an insulin spike in the body as your body absorbs it more efficiently. Hence why you will see creatine used in most pre/intra/post workout formula’s – Also during training and post training the blood flow to the muscle sites is a lot higher and the chances of your muscles absorbing a lot more creatine is increased.

Generally the age limit is 21. If you’re looking at taking test boosters at a younger age we recommend talking to your GP before taking any testosterone boosting supplements.
-
Creatine can cause dehydration easily as it may draw water from other areas of the body. I suggest making sure you stay well hydrated. Also because creatine is manufactured in the liver and it’s by product Creatinine is filtered through the kidneys it would be reasonable to assume that any person wanting to supplement creatine that has existing or pre-existing liver or kidney problems should not take creatine. We would recommend those people to contact their Doctor or Health Care Professional before use.

Hi Julie!
Oxy Elite Pro is a strong thermogenic fat burner designed by USP Labs for extreme fat loss and insane energy. The added bonus of Oxy Elite Pro is that it contains a potent mood booster which we all know is important during stressful times such as dieting! :-)
-
Why yes, yes it is a Dubli Question. How weird is that?
-
ZMA may help testosterone levels because the mineral zinc and magnesium play important roles in the production of anabolic hormones, especially testosterone. So taking a Zinc and Magnesium supplement will help enhance the effects of your Testosterone booster. A must have when supplementing a Test booster.
-
Anyone who has ever touched a dumbbell has probably heard the term Pre and Post workout. How many have heard Intra workout? Or better yet, how many people do you see drinking anything but water during training? I know, not many right?
When you train as hard as an amateur body builder and you’re looking for the best gains an Intra workout supplement is crucial. During your sessions you body releases a catabolic hormone in high amounts which in turn causes unwanted muscle breakdown. There was a study in 2006 that showed men who consumed an Intra workout formula during training actually decreased the serum concentration levels by 23 percent – reducing the catabolic response. Trying to attain the peak anabolic response and maximizing glycogen levels during training will help raise your performance in the gym as well as increase your muscle strength and size.
-
In times of extreme stress on the body your BCAA requirements are much higher. Flooding your blood stream with BCAA’s is very beneficial for increased recovery, endurance, stimulates protein synthesis, stimulates fat loss, boosts immune function and has anti-catabolic effects.
-
Generally, mid morning and mid afternoon. The weight loss shakes will work in conjunction with a calorie controlled eating plan and should be a part of a 5 - 6 meals a day eating plan.
-
There are two types of carbohydrates: the simple and the complex carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates or the monosaccharide’s are made up of only one kind of sugar. It could either be fructose (fruit sugar), glucose (corn sugar), sucrose (table sugar), lactose, and maltose. This is the type of carbohydrate that is quickly turned into glucose after consumption, so the bloodstream can absorb it and transport it all over the body. Because of its fast transformation, its effect is a sudden boost of energy to your body.
On the other hand, complex carbohydrates or polysaccharides are composed of different types of sugar. These carbohydrates normally take slower digestion that also affects the glucose transformation. As such, the body's energy lasts longer unlike that of simple carbohydrates.

Both are very effective in building muscle tissue. However, Glycogen replenishment plays a massive part in your body's ability to absorb protein and build muscle. Replenishing the body's glycogen source (Carbohydrate stored in the muscle) is imperative to better gains. Insulin is responsible for delivering both Glucose and Protein to the muscle cells, so when simple carbs (Sugars etc) are consumed after training it helps to spike insulin levels in the body. This will in enable your body to synthesize new muscle proteins at a much faster rate. Better recovery, growth and results.
-
The main fuel used during moderate- to high-intensity exercise is glycogen stored in the muscles and liver and glucose carried to working muscles through the blood. Both glycogen and glucose are products of carbohydrate breakdown, and for this reason they are often referred to collectively as “carbohydrate fuel”. It takes many hours to replenish glycogen through carbohydrate intake, were as consuming simple sugars like those found in most pre/intra/post workout drinks takes approximately 20 minutes and they are released into the blood stream to combat glycogen depletion –Thus resulting in a sustained energy and better endurance.
Consuming High GI carbs as soon as possible after training is advised as your muscles are 2-3 times more receptive to Insulin which is responsible for transporting protein and glucose to the muscle sites.
So to sum it up – Consuming High GI carbs and protein after training and even during training will be the difference between getting results and getting nowhere.
-
The recommended time for consumption of WPI is Pre and Post training. This will help aid in recovery and growth and get the nutrients to where they are needed fast.
-
It depends on your requirements. 50/50 (protein/carbs) blends are the most common mass gainers available. Depending on your size, metabolism etc, a 70/30 (carbs/protein) blend might be needed. Extremely hard gainers are definitely recommended the higher carb ratio protein blends.
-
There are three other products you could take that will help maximize your results.
1. Thermogenic: The basic principle behind a Thermogenic is to help raise your metabolism so your body burns more energy at rest, assists with energy and some Thermogenics also help with Thyroid regulation.
2. Fat Metaboliser: These help transport the fats to the blood-stream to be utilized as an energy source. They can be used effectively if you are susceptible to stimulants in Thermogenics or even alongside Thermogenics.
3. Acetyl L-Carnitine: is a fat transporter and is required to move fat from the blood stream into the mitochondria to be burnt for energy production. Acetyl L-Carnitine also has some other positive effects as it can cross the blood brain barrier and convert to Acetyl Choline which is excellent brain fuel and can help with cognitive function and also give you a feeling of euphoria.
-
Testosterone (known as "the muscle building hormone") is a naturally occurring male hormone. When this hormone is increased the body can experience rapid gains in muscle mass.
Testosterone is responsible for lean body mass, increasing nitrogen retention and protein synthesis, increased sex drive, increased training recovery and slow down the aging process.
More testosterone, more muscle! It doesn't get much simpler than that.
-
The best option for this goal would be to use a lean and ripped formula
protein that contains fat metabolisers. There are a couple of excellent
options and my favourites are the Syn-tec Six Pack Protein and the Max's
Super Shred. Both taste delicious and contain high levels of effective
fat burners. Use these products to replace a couple of meals and
incorporate a training program and you will experience great results.
-
Testosterone Boosters target stimulation of the Testies. HGH products target Adrenal Gland stimulation and are responsible for controlling the body’s hormones. In most cases a lot of guys will stack the two together for maximum results.
-
It is very controversial as to when the most effective time to take BCAA’s are. I recommend taking them pre, intra and post workout. These times are the most crucial and where I believe you will get most benefit from free form amino acids. Most of your pre, intra and post workout formulas will have added free form BCAA’s in them and in the right ratios.
The recommendation is 0.17g of BCAA’s per 0.5kg of lean body mass (LBM) around training. To obtain your LBM, subtract total fat mass from total bodyweight.
-
Fast Release proteins (also known as Whey Protein Isolate (WPI) or Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC) go through a lot more complex filtration process and in turn leave a higher percentage of protein with less fat and carbs. The protein percentage is usually between 88 to 91g per 100g for WPI proteins.
-
Fast release proteins are very low in Fats and Carbs. In most cases less than a gram of each per serve. Fast release protein is excellent for anyone looking for a High Protein source with little fats or carbs and the best part is it will only damage your calorie intake by 100 - 120 calories per shake.
-
Weight loss proteins are designed to be used with a calorie restricted diet and combined with a cardio and resistance training program. They will assist in building, recovering and sculpting muscle. But remember the main focus here that they are used for is Fat Loss.
-
It depends! Getting good gains is all about creating the optimum environment inside the body. Spiking insulin (which occurs during carb intake) is one of the best ways for your muscles to build quality muscle tissue. Insulin is responsible for delivering both Glucose and Protein to the muscle cells. So the intake of carbs enables your body to synthesize new muscle proteins at a much faster rate and more effectively. So moderated carb intake is essential to ensure you're not over eating and putting on weight too fast which would more than likely be fat. A general gain of 200 to 600g a week would be expected on a good mass gaining diet.
-
On a calorie controlled diet - yes. If you're looking for more effective weight loss take a look at our weight loss protein range. They have extra additives in the proteins that can assist with fat reduction and also help with energy levels whilst you're on a restricted calorie diet.
-
Because a WPI is so refined and easily absorbed your body will metabolize it too quickly. Basically your body will be hungry again in about an hour or so after consuming a WPI. We recommend a WPC/CASEIN blend for bedtime. The benefits are it is a lot slower digesting and will drip feed your body nutrients throughout the night and help keep you anabolic.
