Night time proteins, slow and sustained release protein have been interchangeable for years. A good night time protein consists of proteins and or amino acids that enter into the blood stream over a prolonged time, and it’s not hard to guess why. At night (when most people sleep) you are not eating, your body is doing most of its repairing and depending on how much repairing and how large your blood amino acid pool is, you could be deficient in protein at that time.  By taking a night time protein just before bed you make sure the repairing doesn’t stop.
 
Specialty night time powders include such ingredients as ZMA, Skullcap and camomile to aid in putting you to sleep and keeping you there. The bad thing about this specialty type of protein is that unless you plan on sleeping after you take it, it might not be the best idea to use a night time formula
